Biker Chick
I used to run about four miles a day. I was in pretty good shape, but the pain from the tumor increased to the point where I just wasn't able to do much in the way of physical activity.
After diagnosis and after radiation I was left so weak, I couldn't walk across the room for a while. I slowly and steadily began to gain strength. I could walk, but not run. Then I discovered how much I love riding a bike! Now I ride a bike just about everywhere I need to go. I also ride just to be riding. Not only is it helping me regain strength and build muscle, but I'm saving a bundle on gasoline! The only thing I haven't figured out how to do is carry home groceries. Last week though I did hang a light bag on each handle bar.
I've had a few close calls. I hit the curb on Washington Avenue and went splat. I skinned a knee, but my pride was injured more than anything. People sometimes yell at me to get off the road, but for the most part, drivers are very cautious and polite. I get plenty of friendly waves and the wind in my face feels wonderful on a sunny day. I'm wildly excited about our Mayor's plan to build bike routes all around the city. I know that will encourage so many more people to hop on board. Thanks Mayor!!
I pedal to my meetings at church. Lynn Renne snapped a few pictures. By the way, I have her to thank for the bike. I love it!! And I love my new form of transportation! Now, what to do in mid January?

Thank you so much Ann and family and friends for all you prayers and support.
God Bless ALL of you!

My husband likes to ride his bike to work and any place he can. He does it for exercise, to save gas, and for the enviroment. I think he also just likes to be a little different!!! We live way out near the Posey County line so it is like eight miles to his work. He leaves work and rides down to the YMCA to lift weights, then back home again. I share this because so many people said they would be afraid to ride because of a car hitting them. I worried a bit after their comments and then God reminded me worry is not of Him. So, I thank God for the angels that surround my husband's bike and that God has him protected. And if i forget and catch myself worrying about him, I stop...thank God for His provision of safety over my husband, and move on! I share this, because I believe the very things that CAN bring us joy, are often taken from us because of our fears. My husband loves riding his bike, it is good for his body, our budget, and it is good for the enviroment. OFCOURSE God wants to honor such a thing...so OFCOURSE God is honoring my prayer of protection over my husband.
I thank God that He has given you a source of joy in your bike riding. I also thank Him for the protection He places around you as you ride about the city of Evansville. I praise Him for the continued healing of your physical body! I also praise Him for the woman you are in Christ. Your inner woman is so beautiful and God uses that very spririt to touch the lives of many!
Thanks for the reminder that simple things work wonders,
Living. It is testimonal to what our faith should be!!!
