Gilda's Club

I've been researching Gilda's Clubs since I blogged about support for caregivers.

The more I researched, the more excited I became. So I'm asking...has anyone ever looked into starting a Gilda's Club here in the Tri-State?

The concept is wonderful. The clubhouses are located away from any hospital or medical facility. That's key. I know there are programs within the hospitals, but cancer patients spend so much time in and around hospitals, that's the last place I for one, would want to go to hang out.

Gilda's Club offers programs for everyone. There is "Noogieland" for kids...how cute is that? It's a place for everyone to gather, not only to share their experiences, but to learn how to live with cancer.

All our major cities have a Gilda's Club. That makes sense. But they are also located in communities the size of Evansville. Please contact me if you, or someone you know has looked into starting a Gilda's Club here. I would like to know more.

Thanks to Lise Renne of Chicago for mentioning it to me.

By the way...for those of you who don't know. Gilda's Club is named after "Saturday Night Live" comedian Gilda Radner who died of ovarian cancer in 1989.

In the meantime...I'll keep researching!

Much Agape,

Ann

Ann......That is a wonderful idea to start one here in Evansville! You know that you can count on me and many others to help you in any way
we can. That is why you are so dear to so many of us Ann....because you are always seeking ways to minister to others. You
know that God does not put a passion in your heart unless He is prepared to carry it through....so if you decide to start something
here, know that you can count me in to help you in any way I can. As always, my dear friend....you are loved and put before
the Altar of God .......Blessings, Vicki

Let's do it! I know a little bit about the organization from when I contributed a few years back. I still receive their literature. I'll do some checking, too. <3

Ann,
Just happened on your site today. I have wanted to start
a Gilda's Club in Evansville for a while. I have Ovarian cancer and my heart is all about a place like this. I just had no idea how ot go about it. Please let me know if I can do anything to help with this. I know how important support is at times like these. I attend church with your father-in-law. I would really love to help. Thanks again!
